Growth Engine
The economy is looking resilient, with the Fed deciding to hold off on another interest rate increase this week and inflation at about half of what it was just a year ago. At Marcum, we see many opportunities for growth in the current business environment.
Earlier this month, we merged with McCarthy & Company, PC, a full-service accounting firm based in Blue Bell, PA. The move will benefit our clients by adding about 70 partners and associates to our team and enabling us to expand our construction practice in the Mid-Atlantic region. It’s one of a series of mergers in recent years that have been a growth engine for our firm.
Like Marcum, McCarthy has had a longstanding commitment to helping clients navigate complex business challenges. We’re looking forward to tapping into the expertise this merger adds to our already strong talent bench of more than 4,000 team members. McCarthy has made it onto Philadelphia Business Journal’s list of Top Accounting Firms for the past four years and Accounting Today’s list of Best Accounting Firms to Work for each year since 2019. It was also recognized as a top accounting firm by Construction Today.
Marcum is growing in many other ways, and we are also continuing to move ahead when it comes to diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI). As regular readers of this column know, we’ve made an ongoing commitment to building a culture where all talented professionals feel welcome and see the potential to climb to the highest levels of our firm. Many of our team members have made powerful contributions to our efforts. We now have a DEI Newsletter and DEI Calendar to keep everyone at the firm informed of all of the activity that’s baked into daily life at Marcum.
In keeping with this commitment, Marcum will be closed this coming Monday, June 19, as we honor the federal holiday of Juneteenth, commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.
On another note, Father’s Day is this Sunday. Fatherhood is evolving with each generation, and many dads on our team are juggling busy schedules at Marcum with equally packed schedules of family responsibilities, especially with the world opening back up and activities like sports and school concerts in full swing. It isn’t easy to manage it all at a time when support systems for working parents are still recovering from the pandemic, and many families are still struggling to find childcare. I’d like to thank all of the fathers on our team for all you do and wish all of you a very happy Father’s Day.
I’m fortunate that what has become a Weiner family Father’s Day tradition is one of our annual family vacations, where I’m looking forward to traveling with my wife and five children. I’m truly thankful for the times my entire family gets to spend together, and our annual Father’s Day trip is one of those times.
Enjoy the weekend, everyone.
