Scott Stringer Joins Marcum LLP as Advisory Partner in Chicago
New York City, NY – Scott A. Stringer, CPA/ABV/CFF, CGMA, CFE has joined Marcum LLP as an Advisory Services partner in the Firm’s Chicago office.
An industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience, Mr. Stringer provides forensic accounting, advisory, fraud investigation, and litigation support services to attorneys, individuals, and corporations. He has been qualified as an expert witness in numerous Federal District Courts, the United States Tax Court, and the State Courts of Illinois, Missouri, Michigan, Colorado and Arizona. He has provided expert testimony in post-acquisition disputes, shareholder actions, professional malpractice, breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, income tax fraud, and employee embezzlement cases. He has also been appointed as a neutral expert by the courts and as a mutually agreed upon expert by parties to litigation.
Mr. Stringer is regularly engaged to assist management, general and outside counsel, and audit committees in special investigations of issues related to suspected embezzlement, regulatory actions, accounting irregularities, and ethics violations. He has led numerous investigations across the United States as well as in China.
In addition to his professional memberships in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Illinois CPA Society, Mr. Stringer is also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and serves on the Commercial and Business Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association. He holds a BS in Accountancy from Southern Illinois University and an MBA in Finance from Saint Louis University.
Prior to joining Marcum, he was a forensic and litigation leader at a national accounting firm. Previously, he held partnership and advisory roles at various other national accounting and consulting firms. He began his career in the audit department of a “Big Four” firm.
