Nine Philadelphia Companies Win 2015 Marcum Innovator of the Year Awards
New York CIty, NY – Nine Philadelphia companies have won 2015 Marcum Innovator of the Year Award, an annual program presented by Marcum LLP, a top national accounting and advisory services firm, in partnership with SmartCEO magazine. This year’s winners were announced tonight at a gala event at The Fillmore Philadelphia.
The 2015 Marcum Innovator of the Year winners are:
- Invisible Sentinel, Inc. (Biotech/Healthcare)
A platform diagnostic company that provides preventative quality control tools for food and beverage products. Invisible Sentinel’s Veriflow diagnostic system provides same-day results for spoilage organisms and next-day results for pathogen detection.
- Think Brownstone (Business Services – small)
An experience-design firm using digital interfaces, including responsive web-based and native mobile applications, to tell stories.
- Arraya Solutions (Business Services – large)
A full-service technology consulting firm specializing in minimizing risk, simplifying IT operations and streamlining processes. Arraya’s “M&A in a Box” breaks down the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) process into three manageable stages: research and planning, paperwork execution, and post-transaction systems integration.
- Advent Design Corporation (Manufacturing – small/medium)
Provides automated manufacturing equipment, contract manufacturing, and proprietary products.
- K’NEX Brands and The Rodon Group (Manufacturing – large)
Toy company whose new product launches in 2015 included the Mighty Makers line of engineering building toys for girls; these products demonstrate aspirational STEM careers for girls, from engineering and botany to architecture and aviation.
- Cross Properties (Real Estate)
The first real estate developer to bring a tangible wellness package into residential units at a majority of its holdings.
- Arcweb Technologies (Technology – small)
Enterprise software developer that helps companies through the ideation and creation process to bring new products to fruition.
- Listrak (Technology – medium/large)
Helps mid-market retailers compete with major online sellers through personalized marketing programs that leverage predictive analytics across multiple digital channels, including ecommerce websites, mobile commerce, social media and display advertising.
In addition to the category awards, a 2015 Marcum Innovator Breakthrough Award went to Aria Health, for achieving the greatest annual revenues among the 30 finalist companies. Aria Health is the largest healthcare provider in Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County. The company’s mission is population health management – a commitment to improve the health of an entire population, enhance patient experience and outcomes, and benefit the community by reducing per-capita cost of care.

The Marcum Innovator of the Year Awards celebrates companies who blaze a trail in their fields by constantly seeking new ways to advance their industries. Nominees were required to demonstrate how their innovations solved a problem, how they helped differentiate their companies in their markets, what impact the innovations have had on the Philadelphia economy, and what kind of success or benefit they have produced in the marketplace. Each nominee also supplied a short statement of practical advice to other innovators in the early stages of development.
