Marcum Welcomes Director of New Business Development Robert Derbabian
Robert Derbabian recently joined Marcum LLP as director of new business development. Although he will primarily focus on forging new relationships and acting as a subject matter expert for the Assurance Services division, Derbabian will also contribute to building business across all of Marcum’s service offerings.
“We are excited to have Robert spearhead business development efforts in our New York region. The experience he gained in understanding the needs of business owners as a banker will translate well into understanding their needs as it relates to accounting, tax and advisory services,” stated David Bukzin, the Partner-in-Charge of Marcum’s Assurance Services for its New York City office.
Most recently, Derbabian was the vice president of new business development at Wells Fargo Capital Finance. He worked closely with temporary staffing companies throughout the Northeast seeking financing. Previously, he spent two years as vice president at Signature Bank where he was responsible for expanding business with professional services firms. Earlier in his career, Derbabian was instrumental in growing the temporary staffing portfolio and assisted in the purchase of a staffing funding company at Sterling National Bank.
Derbabian is a founding member of N3, a New York City-based networking organization comprised of privately-held business owners. He was recently elected to the Boards of Directors for the New Jersey Staffing Alliance (NJSA) and the New York Staffing Association (NYSA). As co-chair of the NYSA’s Industry Partner group, Derbabian has been instrumental in increasing the organization’s membership. In addition, he is a member of the Commercial Finance Association and the Turnaround Management Association.
Derbabian frequently lends his expertise as a speaker on financing and social networking topics to staffing and security industry organizations including the American Staffing Association, TechServe Alliance, StaffDigest, NYSA, NJSA and the ASIS.
Derbabian received a Master of Business Administration in finance from the New York University Stern School of Business and earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Union College. He resides in Croton-on-Hudson, New York with his wife and children.
