Marcum LLP Champions Enhanced Data Protection with Inclusion in HITRUST Assessor Council
APRIL 4, 2024 (New York, NY) – Marcum LLP, one of the nation’s largest accounting and advisory firms, announced its appointment to the HITRUST Assessor Council. This council is a collaborative platform for Authorized External Assessors to directly influence and enhance HITRUST programs and initiatives, promoting industry-wide adoption.
Comprising only 18 selected firms from over 100 registered assessor organizations, the council acknowledges firms with experience, commitment to quality, and a unified vision for the future of HITRUST within the marketplace. Marcum’s recognition is a testament to its exceptional service and strategic contribution to advancing HITRUST standards.
The mission of the HITRUST Assessor Council is to involve External Assessors in a constructive dialogue that shapes the HITRUST CSF Assurance program, safeguarding its integrity, efficiency, and relevance to all stakeholders. By providing valuable insights, the council ensures the program remains responsive to the industry’s dynamic challenges and evolving needs.
Christopher Shaffer, a partner at Marcum and leader of its HITRUST CSF assessor program, has been a member of the External Assessor Program since 2016 and will represent the Firm on the council. “Marcum is excited to be part of the HITRUST Assessor Council, where we have the opportunity to guide and streamline the assessment process,” said Shaffer. “HITRUST is making it easier for organizations to achieve compliance with the HITRUST CSF, and with the new e1 and i1 assessments, it’s more attainable for a broader set of organizations with the varying assurance options now available.
