Marcum LLP Announces Fastest Growing Tech Companies in Connecticut

New York City, NY – Marcum LLP today announced the winners of the 2021 Marcum Tech Top 40, an annual program recognizing the fastest growing technology and life sciences companies in Connecticut.

For the second consecutive year, Cara Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CARA) of Stamford was named the overall winner and also took first place in the Life Sciences category, with four-year growth of 14,728 percent. Cara Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing new chemical entities designed to alleviate pruritus, or chronically itchy skin. The company is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials for its KORSUVA brand injection and Phase 2 trials for oral KORSUVA.

Tech Top 40 companies are both privately and publicly held, must have $3 million in annual revenue and demonstrate a record of revenue growth in the past four years. Companies that successfully scaled to $3 million in revenue in less than three years can also apply for the Accelerator award.
