Hillary Rodham Clinton Keynotes 2018 Marcum Women’s Forum in New York
New York City, NY – Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was the featured speaker at the 2018 Marcum Women’s Forum held today in New York City. The annual event was presented by Marcum LLP.
Secretary Clinton focused her comments on this year’s conference theme, which was "Supporting the Climb: From the Classroom to the Boardroom to the Ballot Box." She emphasized the importance of advancing the rights of women and girls worldwide, and the value of mentoring and advocacy.
"There is still a woeful lack of representation of women in science, in technology, in business, and law, not to mention politics and government. We have to fiercely advocate for the changes that will bring women into the formal economy. It is the greatest challenge of the 21st century," she said.
Secretary Clinton offered five life lessons to the 300 women and men in attendance:
- Prepare, prepare, prepare. If you fail to plan, plan to fail.
- Take risks. Be brave and be ready to learn from the consequences.
- Be resilient under any and all circumstances.
- Have empathy for yourself and others.
- Bring others with you on your climb. Be a glass ceiling-breaker and a history-maker.
She also noted her pride and pleasure in following in the footsteps of her daughter Chelsea Clinton, who was keynote speaker at the 2017 Marcum Women’s Forum. Ms. Clinton will again be a featured speaker at this year’s events in Boston on November 12 and San Francisco on December 6.
"We were honored to host Secretary Hillary Clinton at this year’s Marcum Women’s Forum. The opportunity to hear her articulate her personal views in such an intimate setting was a great privilege for everyone in attendance," said Jeffrey M. Weiner, Marcum’s chairman and chief executive officer.
"Secretary Clinton was extremely gracious, not only in sharing her life experiences and personal insights, but especially in entertaining questions from the audience. It was an extraordinary experience, and we are deeply grateful to her," said Rorrie Gregorio, national leader of Marcum’s Family Office practice and host of the Marcum Women’s Forums.
Joining Secretary Clinton as speakers at the New York event this year were Barbara Bradley Baekgaard, co-founder of Vera Bradley Designs Inc., and Laura Fredricks, JD, founder & CEO of THE ASK©.
In addition to the upcoming events in Boston and San Francisco, the Marcum Women’s Forum will also be presented in Chicago on October 19. Details are available at www.marcumevents.com.
