First Annual Marcum Women’s Forum to Focus on Personal Security and Health for Executive Women; Erin Brockovich to Keynote
New York City, NY – Marcum LLP, a top national accounting and advisory services firm, announces the first annual Marcum Women’s Forum, entitled Safe And Sound: Smart Choices for Savvy Women, to take place September 26, 2016, in New York City. The event will focus on personal security and health issues for high net worth and executive women. Environmental activist Erin Brockovich will deliver the keynote address at the half-day breakfast event at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
The agenda will feature a panel discussion on Women Traveling Alone. Jeanne Rizzo, president and CEO of the Breast Cancer Fund, will speak on Cancer Prevention and Public Policy, focusing on the hidden health impacts of common consumer products. Ms. Brockovich’s topic will be Having a Voice in Our Health.
The women’s forum evolved from a personal health scare experienced by one of Marcum’s practice leaders. Rorrie Gregorio, partner-in-charge of the Marcum Family Office Practice group, said, “Women account for over $7 trillion of consumer and business spending, and generally speaking we’re the ones doing the purchasing for our families. We are buying products containing chemicals that either haven’t been tested or are banned outside of the U.S. And since many consumer products are unregulated, there is no reliable standard for what constitutes ‘natural’ vs. ‘organic’ or other claims we may use to make purchasing decisions. Also dangerous are the unrecognized risks women face when traveling alone. Our goal in presenting this forum is to educate more women about how to make smart decisions for the safety and health of themselves and their families.”
