Michael Potoczak is a partner in the Firm’s Assurance Services Group and works out of the Deerfield, IL office. With more than 17 years of public accounting experience, Michael has established himself as a trusted advisor to clients across a diverse range of industries including healthcare, manufacturing and distribution, and nonprofit. In notable engagements, Michael counseled various clients regarding the CARES Act, helping them remain compliant with the program while realizing its benefits; uncovered internal controls weaknesses that led to the discovery of an embezzlement scheme; identified errors in an employee benefit plan that could have led to violations and fines by the Department of Labor; and significantly improved audit turn-around time for a nonprofit compared to the organization’s predecessor auditor.

Michael is known for his technical proficiency and meticulous approach to audits, which helps to ensure that his clients’ financial information is accurately reported and fully compliant with regulatory standards. His commitment to client service and responsiveness have earned him long-standing relationships built on trust and reliability.

In addition to his client work, Michael plays a key role in the Firm’s growth and quality control initiatives. He is a coach and mentor to junior professionals within the Firm and contributes to its internal education programs, particularly through his involvement with the Healthcare Educational Committee.
