About Paul

Paul Sherman is regional managing partner in California and is primarily based in Marcum’s Los Angeles office.

A seasoned accountant, Paul works closely with clients, providing business and tax consulting services. He has led numerous audit and tax engagements involving public and private companies and has conducted due diligence reviews in connection with mergers and acquisitions. Paul has served as a lead member of an exclusive investigatory team that performed special assignments for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). In addition, he has provided tax and consulting services to entrepreneurial businesses with a specific emphasis on outsourcing the Chief Financial Officer functions for these companies. He also served as chairman of the NYSSCPA’s Banking Committee, where he organized the first all-day banking conference, as well as serving as chairman of the NYSSCPA’s Ethics Committee.

Paul joined the Firm in 1994 and was named administrative partner for the New York City office in 1999. For ten years, he was responsible for managing New York operations, supervising staff, enhancing operating efficiencies and growing the client base. He has also served as Firm-wide partner-in-charge of Human Resources, with responsibility for managing all aspects of recruiting, compensation, career development, benefits administration and personnel policy development.

From 2010 through 2016, a period of extreme growth for the Firm, Paul served as Marcum’s chief operating officer. He oversaw the daily operation of a rapidly increasing number of Marcum offices in the U.S., Grand Cayman and China as the Firm executed mergers and acquisitions in numerous markets. He was responsible for integrating all operating systems, improving efficiencies and supporting the growth of Marcum’s service lines Firm-wide.
