South Florida firms that represent clients in mergers and acquisitions are hoping for a good year in 2013.
Transactions and big deals have steadily increased since the recession, so law firms are moving more resources into those areas, but the market its not booming yet.
According to local attorneys, the first quarter was a little dry following a mini-boom in late 2012, when the market rushed to make deals in advance of tax increases.
A spokeswoman for accounting firm Marcum LLP said M&A deals are being viewed as exit strategies for aging business owners, and acquisitions are coming largely from family offices and private equity firms.
