A Norwalk provider of data backup, disaster recovery and business continuity services was honored Thursday as the fastest growing tech company in the annual Marcum Tech Top 40.
Marcum and The Connecticut Technology Council ask software, Internet and telecom, energy, life science and advanced manufacturing companies headquartered in Connecticut to submit entries documenting their sales growth.
The fastest-growing company was Datto, which reported that revenue in 2012 was $25.8 million, up from $8 million the year before, $3 million in 2010, $1 million in 2009, and just $187,000 in 2008.
To qualify for the Tech Top 40 award, companies must have had at least $50,000 in revenue in 2008 and at least $3 million last year.
Datto was founded in 2007 by Austin McChord, just after he finished college at Rochester Institute of Technology. The Norwalk firm had 16 workers in 2009 and now has more than 225, with about 195 in Connecticut.
