About Robert

Robert Cohen is a partner in the Firm’s Tax & Business Services division and a member of the Real Estate Practice group. He joined Marcum in 2015 via the Firm’s merger with Frost, Ruttenberg, & Rothblatt P.C., one of the largest full-service accounting firms in the Chicago region.

A specialist in real estate tax and accounting, Robert has developed a diverse client base spanning the real estate, gaming, legal services, manufacturing, distribution, and health club industries, to name just a few. He is transaction-oriented and uses his deep experience to counsel clients on a variety of syndication issues pertaining to private real estate transactions with outside investors.

Robert serves as a trusted advisor to many family-owned businesses and individuals. Having forged close relationships over the years, clients rely on him for advice on a range of issues, from day-to-day operations and strategic planning to estate tax planning and business succession.

He joined FROST in 1998 and was a member of its Executive Committee.

Among his accomplishments, Mr. Cohen:[SIN]Worked with real estate developers to analyze their capitalized costs and implemented sophisticated cost segregation studies, saving them millions of dollars in tax liabilities.[SIN]Advised clients large and small – from $2 million to $20 million – on the tax implications of major business decisions, such as buying and selling property, owning or leasing equipment or relocating their headquarters.[SIN]Counseled individuals on determining and implementing cost-effective estate plans and retirement strategies.
