For Michael Balter, accounting is as much about people as balance sheets.
He has spent much of the past month – his first at Marcum LLP – just listening to what the firm’s employees had to say. Over the course of his career, he has found that the right blend of hospitality and psychology adds up to a full-service approach to accounting.
He is a bit of an anomaly for Marcum, which traditionally brings people up through its ranks. But Balter’s not new to the South Florida market. He’s been here since moving from New York in grade school and has worked here as a CPA his entire his professional career.
His firm, which offers accounting, tax, wealth management services and more across a variety of sectors, is thoroughly woven into the South Florida community – and it has offices around the world.
Marcum has current contracts with the cities of West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Sunrise, Coconut Creek, Palm Beach Gardens, and the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department. Moving into 2015, Balter hopes to guide Marcum’s growth, and he’s happy to get started.
