Marcum Partner Philip Wilson Named to “OC 500” List of Influencers by Orange County Business Journal
New York City, NY – Philip J. Wilson, CPA, managing partner of Marcum LLP’s Costa Mesa, California, office and national leader of the Firm’s Tax Controversy Resolution group, was named to the 2017 OC 500 Directory of Influence by the Orange County Business Journal.
Mr. Wilson was recognized for his leadership in growing Marcum’s California region by expanding the Firm’s Bay Area footprint into San Jose, and for his management of client services to satisfy unresolved tax disputes with federal, state, and local jurisdictions nationwide.
Mr. Wilson has more than 30 years of experience as a CPA and business advisor, including service as an IRS revenue agent. He focuses on helping individuals and companies resolve tax controversies, representing privately held companies and entrepreneurial enterprises as well as high net worth individuals. He has substantial experience in the real estate area, including tax structuring for commercial and residential developers. Prior to joining Marcum in 2013 via a merger with his predecessor firm, Mr. Wilson served as a founding partner of WilsonMorgan LLP, where he oversaw tax compliance, tax consulting, and tax controversy engagements.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA), and serves on the Board of the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation. He holds a Masters degree in Business Taxation from Golden Gate University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting Concentration, from Western Carolina University.
