2019 Marcum Workplace Challenge Is “On the Road to $1 Million”

New York City, NY – The 2019 Marcum Workplace Challenge is off and running. The run-walk for charity, taking place July 30, kicked off officially on February 26 when sponsors and team captains came together to anoint this year’s event as the Road to $1 Million.

“If participation from the business community is on pace with past years, we will cross the $1 million threshold in charitable giving this year,” said Carolyn Mazzenga, office managing partner of Marcum LLP, the event’s title sponsor since 2006. To date, the Marcum Workplace Challenge has raised more than $930,000 for four Long Island charities, including the Children’s Medical Fund of New York, Long Island Cares – The Harry Chapin Food Bank, Long Island Children’s Museum, and the Nassau County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The annual Marcum Workplace Challenge is a 3.5-mile run-walk and corporate picnic at Jones Beach State Park. More than 12,000 Long Islanders, representing teams from 200 companies, participate each year. Marcum, Long Island’s largest accounting firm, produces the event in collaboration with the Greater Long Island Running Club.

2019 Sponsors to date include the following Long Island companies:

  • Jumbotron – Bethpage Federal Credit Union
  • Corporate Village – Ergonomic Group
  • Platinum – Capital One
  • Corporate – Empire National Bank, PSEG-LI, Telephonics, Widex
  • Entertainment – National Grid
  • General Sponsors – Hub, Soil Mechanics Drilling Corp.
  • Supporter Sponsors – Certilman Balin, Farrell Fritz, Florian Food Service, Marchon, Merritt Environmental Consulting Corp., Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, SurePrep
  • Media – Long Island Business News, WBAB/WBLI

“The support of the Long Island business community for this event is beyond tremendous. From sponsoring to fielding teams to volunteering to helping spread the word, the participation we get from companies and organizations across the region has put us on the road to $1 million and, I’m confident, will take us across that finish line,” said Event Director Mindy Davidson.

Competitive and recreational runners and walkers are welcome.

Carolyn Mazzenga (L) and Mindy Davidson flank the Marcum Workplace Challenge flag, surrounded by corporate sponsors and team captains holding 100 Grand candy bars, representing the event’s usual annual contribution to charity. Marcum expects to cross the $1 million giving threshold in 2019.
